The Experimental Radio Study views radio as a global phenomenon, one that is borderless, hence internationally oriented. Experimental Radio Chair is also responsible for the campus radio at the Bauhaus University. The emphasis of the campus radio lies on the development and testing of pop-culture formats and novelty broadcasts as a part of a high-quality, upscale program and education. Students have access to an atelier, a radio studio for broadcast, pre- and post-production, web space at radiostudio.org and bauhaus.fm, and a local FM radio frequency.
The Experimental Radio department of Bauhaus University is the only radio education chair in Germany that offers both BFA and MFA degrees from the first semester of enrollment to both German and International students, alike.

The standard length of study for the initial degree course in Media Art and Design is six semesters, divided into two phases of study. The introductory study period of two semesters concludes with an intermediate examination. The advanced study period of four semesters then follows. After completing and presenting the Bachelor' thesis, the Department of Media awards the academic degree of Bachelor of Fine Arts as an initial professional degree. The core element of the course of studies is the project, in which a topic from a practically-oriented field of relevance is addressed in an interdisciplinary manner. The emphasis lies on example-based, problem solving-oriented, conceptual learning and the development of a responsible and consequential manner of thought. The degree program is modular in nature; beyond the mandatory coursework, electives can be chosen from the fields of media culture and media systems, as well as from other departments at the Bauhaus University Weimar. External internships and studies abroad are supported and principally recognized.
The Bachelor' degree program in Media Art and Design begins in winter semester. The prerequisite for admission is the allgemeine Hochschulreife (German higher education entrance qualification) or equivalent qualification. Applicants must also pass a qualifying exam, the specifics of which are governed by the Qualifying Examination Regulations in Media Art and Design. In the case of outstanding artistic talent, applicants may be admitted without the German higher education entrance qualification.

Through the specialized practice of advanced artistic and creative techniques and the acquisition of interdisciplinary knowledge, skills, and methods, graduates are prepared to work in creative media occupations and as independent entrepreneurs.
